The people behind Fernwood

A design and build studio that stays with your garden from sketch to planting.

Fernwood Landscapes is a garden design and build studio working across Bristol and Bath. We plan each garden on site, then build it ourselves, from the first stone to the last plant.

We keep our gardens calm and natural: durable stone, oak structures and planting chosen to settle into the site, not sit on top of it.

What homeowners and architects ask before their first visit.

Do you design gardens in Bath as well as Bristol?

Yes. We design and build gardens across both Bristol and Bath.

Do you handle both design and the build?

Yes. We design the garden and build it ourselves, from stonework to planting.

What if I only want planting design, not a full rebuild?

We offer planting design on its own, as well as full design and build projects.

Do you add garden lighting?

Yes. We design and install lighting as part of the garden, not as an afterthought.

How experienced is the studio?

We are members of the Society of Garden Designers and have built over 200 gardens since 2011. Our planting and design won a silver-gilt medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2024.

What are your hours?

We're open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
